All SONiA needs is love. The local singer and songwriter says the concept
of love is her philosophy and inspiration.

SONiA, who grew up in Baltimore, started writing songs when she was 14, a
couple of months after she got her first guitar. She formed her band disappear fear
with her sister while they were in college. “She was living in Detroit and I was in
Baltimore, and I would send her songs I had written,” SONiA said. “So it’s always
been a big part of my life.”

The musician is currently working on two separate albums—one blues, the other a Latin
album with world influences.

SONiA is one of eight troubadour singers participating in the “Uncharted” tour,
sponsored by Jeep Compass, ad said that she was chosen because her
goes into uncharted territory.

“I think I’m able to explore situations and stories that are incredibly common,
but uncommon or extraordinary in a way that they haven’t been described in music
before,” she said

“Personally, my goal is to do my very best work on any given song at any given moment,
and that’s something that I do for myself,” she said. “Professionally, to make sure
that I’m always connected, that my music and art connects to ‘tikukum olam’,
(a Hebrew phrase) which means ‘repairing the earth’, I’ve met both those goals”.
