A Snowy Night at The Down HomeOn February 17, 2007 I was blessed with the company of my father as we drove in the direction of Johnson City, Tennessee, to enjoy some live music. We were going to The Down Home, one of my favorite music venues. I don’t know if any of you have been to The Down Home, but the setting is simple, rustic, and cozy. It was snowing outside and the good food and beer helped warm us up. Managed by gracious people, the ambiance is right for nearly any variety of music. This is good, considering the assortment of eclectic music hosted by The Down Home. On that particular evening dad and I were present to listen to the group SONiA & disappear fear. We enjoyed their vibe. They have a unique style and sing with English, Spanish, and even Hebrew lyrics. They’ve performed around the United States, Israel, and perhaps abroad in other countries. Their music was heartfelt and brightened the room. Although I only comprehended the lyrics sung in my native tongue, the overall atmosphere encouraged by their music sparked in me the desire to study languages other than English. As is often the case with beautiful music, the positive emotions evoked carried a healthy twinge of melancholy. Being given the opportunity to listen to live music with my father is always a blessing. I absolutely encourage the listening of live music. Anyway, if SONiA & disappear fear come your way, count it as a blessing. (More information and music samples can be found at www.disappearfear.com) |
