the courage to Disappear fear

Sonia of disappear fear received this email from WMNFer Jim Marvin, who
attended their WMNF benefit show on February 10th. He gave us permission
to reprint it, so we happily present it for your encouragement and enjoyment.

Dear Sonia and Disappear Fear;

It was wonderful to hear you all last Thursday on an
uncharacteristically chilly night at Viva La Frida's.

I've been waiting for nearly two years to see Sonia perform again,
I couldn't believe you even remembered m, but it was worth the wait.
And the new band sounds great, too. I especially like the inclusion of
the African drum and the brass on some of the songs.

Some of the WMNF DJs who saw the show are still talking about
it. I'm attempting to carry around as much of the good feeling I
soaked up at the show with me as I can during these trying times.
Everyday it seems that something happens in the world that is even
worse that the awful things that took place the day before.

But it is encouraging to every once in a while find artists
and musicians who embrace the values of peace, equality, and freedom as
opposed to all the commercial acts who only seek more money and ticket sales. At least there
are still some people in this world who understand how success is really measured1

Music like yours gives me hope to carry on the battle against war, intolerance, and blatant
destruction in the name of greed. I know it seems like we are losing this contest right now,
but if we stand by our principles then one day people will see that we were following the right path
all along. And when the illusions that they were chasing vanish in thin air like a mirage
they will join us in the oasis of acceptance and cooperation we have cultivated.

Once again, thank you for the beautiful music. You sound terrific together and I wish you
the best while you're on the road. Keep up the fight for their hearts and we'll keep up the
fight for their minds. I look forward to the next time I can see you perform. Peace,
Your Friend,
Jim Marvin - St. Pete for Peace
