Sonia and disappear fear
"DF05 Live" Disappear Records

Richmond Times-Dispatch
Thursday, October 27, 2005

Since being formed by Baltimore sisters Sonia Rutstein and Cindy Frank, disappear
fear has experienced a host of lineup switches in the past 10 years or so.
Sometimes plugged in, other times totally acoustic, the only constants to
disappear fear have been Sonia and her commitment to politically and
personally passionate if unconventional folk-pop-rock songwriting.

The current edition of disappear fear includes Rutstein along with Laura Cerulli
and Angela Edge. Fans who joined the disappear fear fan club as a result of the band's
self-titled 1994 release will approve of the trio's current sound as well as of
its newest product, "DF05 Live."

The 20-track album was recorded live this spring and summer at some of Americana
music's highest-profile events and venues, including the Kerrville
Folk Festival, the High Sierra Music Festival and Nashville's Bluebird Café.

Rutstein and her new band mates do a fabulous job of re-creating the outrage of
band favorites "Be the One," Phil Ochs' "Is there Anybody Here," the
harmonica-fueled "Washington Work Song" and the quiet pain of "Rio's Home."

Sonia and disappear fear return to Richmond tonight for a show at Babe's of Carytown.
