If the Indigo Girls just don't spell their name eccentrically enough for your taste,
then bow your head to the curiously capitalized SONiA and disappear fear.
Recently reconfigured (SONiA remains, but her fear bandmates are
different) with enhanced funk, these ladies make hardcore social issues and
feminist politics fun again. They offer lyrics that would cause Ani to stop
strumming long enough to throw a high-five, all the while traipsing the spectrum
from compositionally complex folk to catchy, earnest, Pretenders-ish
pop-rock. While their inexplicable use of caps lock may have you rubbing
your eyes, SONiA and disappear fear's unparalleled mastery of
music will leave you loving your ears.
